I thought the news article (front page) was a good article that fairly presented our efforts in a matter of fact manner. It's not often we get media coverage about the industry without editorial comment through the quotes they chose to run or the writing itself.

The Board voted 5-0 to:

1.) Direct the CAO to amend the County Building Code to extend the expiration of building permits from one years to two years;
2.) Direct the CAO to draft a letter for the Chairwoman's signature to Senator Walters and all members of the San Diego delegation in support of Senate Bill 763;
3.) Direct the CAO to communicate this Board's support of Senate Bill 763 to San Diego County's legislative representatives in Sacramento.

This article does not relate that 30 members from industry attended to ask Encinitas to jump start jobs in construction. That raising building fees by 34% - while only 8 permits were issued during the First Quarter of '09 - would result in even further reduced activity. Nor did the paper relate that Council directed their staff to consult with BIA before any fee action is taken.
