Stormwaters are still Roiling

BIA attended the first of 5 stakeholder meetings regarding the new MS4 (Stormwater) permit.  The RWQCB (Regional Water Quality Control Board), has agreed to allow a professional facilitator to run these meetings.  It is hoped that a true dialogue can be achieved with all copermittees and interested parties working towards a better solution than what has been achieved in the past.

BIA experts, Dennis Bowling, Thom Fuller, Tory Walker, Luis Parra, Shawn Weedon, Wayne Rosenbaum and Dr. Mark Grey from BIA So Cal, did a fine job of discussing our industry’s points and asking pointed questions of the RWQCB staff.  It’s too early in the process to know if we’re making headway, but BIA is determined to be engaged and try to achieve a permit that will work for our industry and the environment.

The second of the 5 meeting is the Wednesday, July 11th in Escondido.  BIA staff will keep you updated on the process as it unfolds.  If you have any questions, please contact Mike McSweeney at BIA, 858-514-7004.
